The Commission reiterates that the Turkish-Libyan memorandum violates the sovereign rights of third states and does not comply with the Law of the Sea, while pointing out that Ankara continues to obstruct research for the Greece - Cyprus electrical interconnection
A report of particular interest for Athens was published by the European Commission, clearly recording Turkish provocations against Greece and Cyprus. The Commission reiterates that the Turkish-Libyan memorandum violates the sovereign rights of third states and does not comply with the Law of the Sea, while pointing out that Ankara continues to obstruct research for the Greece - Cyprus electrical interconnection. Particular reference is also made to the casus belli, which Turkey continues to maintain in force against the possibility of extending Greek territorial waters. The report also records the claims of the "Blue Homeland" and Ankara's stance on the Cyprus issue. In other words, the European side recognizes that the improvement in Greco-Turkish relations has not led to a substantial change in Turkish foreign policy.
